LI Teen Arrested After Jumping From Fire Island Ferry, Police Say

FIRE ISLAND, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island teenager has been arrested after jumping off a Fire Island ferry boat Monday night, according to authorities.

Suffolk County police say the 17-year-old Manhasset boy jumped off an 80-foot boat as it was approaching the Bay Shore terminal off Penataquit Creek at around 10:20 p.m.

The boy was pulled in after the ship docked, police said. There were no reported injuries.

According to authorities, there were 60 passengers and three crew members on board the boat at the time of the incident.

The teen, who was not identified by police, faces disorderly conduct charges.

Police say the teen will be arraigned in Central Islip court.
