LISTEN: Murti Says Yankees' Judge Not Getting Too Down On Himself During Slump

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- In his last 47 at-bats, Yankees rookie Aaron Judge has just four hits and he's struck out 29 times. But he doesn't appear to be losing confidence, WFAN Yankees reporter Sweeny Murti said Tuesday.

"Mentally, I don't think he's having a hard time of this," Murti said during an appearance on Mike Francesa's show. "It's one of the things that actually stood out to me during the last road trip in Kansas City. When the strikeouts started to mount and people are at his locker every day asking questions about it, he seems to be pretty good at turning the page mentally. It just hasn't translated physically yet, and the strikeouts keep piling up.

"Scouts talk about makeup, and organizations talk about the makeup of a player. Everything they (the Yankees) know about Judge as a person and a player as far as makeup goes tells them that he's going to get through this. They don't see him hanging his head too much, and I haven't seen it, either."

Murti also said that Gary Sanchez has been "coming back to earth," but his struggles are not as stark as Judge's are.

After a torrid start, the rookie catcher has five hits, 11 strikeouts and no RBIs in his last 27 at-bats.

"Most of the teams now seeing him for the first time (but) the Orioles saw him for a second time," Murti said. "So I think maybe they had a little bit better of a plan. But there's still some respect for the power there when you see him drawing a few walks in there."
