Dump Truck Tears Down Overhead Wires In Ridgewood, N.J.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A dump truck ripped down telephone and cable wires on a block in Ridgewood, New Jersey Thursday evening.

The Ridgewood Fire Department reported the wires were brought down by the dump truck on Grove Street. They were called to the scene at 5:33 p.m., CBS2 reported.

There were no injuries.

Verizon cable wires were also ripped down in addition to telephone wires, the Ridgewood Fire Department reported.

The body of the dump truck snagged some of the wires and pulled them down, the fire department said. About three or four telephone poles were damaged as a result.

Only six customers were affected by the outage, PSE&G reported. The wires that came down were not power lines, but the accident caused one of PSE&G's poles to shake, affecting the transformer, the utility reported.

The Daily Voice published photos from the scene.
