Spanish Rally Brings Europe Closer In Ryder Cup

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) -- Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera Bello rallied from 4 down with six holes to play Saturday morning to earn a half-point that pulled Europe within one point of the Americans going into the final team session.

The Americans lead 6 1/2 to 5 1/2.

The foursomes matches looked all morning as if they would be split.

Rory McIlroy and Thomas Pieters led all the way in a 4-and-2 victory over Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler, while Justin Rose and Chris Wood never trailed in a match that went the distance against Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson.

Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed appeared to have the easiest time. They were 6 under through 12, a great score in alternate shot. They never made another birdie as the Spaniards rallied.
