Man Dies Of Injuries From West Milford, N.J. Boat Hit-And-Run

WEST MILFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A man has died of his injuries just over a month after a boat smashed into another watercraft in Passaic County, New Jersey and then took off.

Edwin Lane, 72, died Saturday of injuries he suffered the crash on Monday, Oct. 5 in Greenwood Lake in West Milford, officials told CBS2

The damaged 18-foot Bayliner was hit in the back when the other boat struck around 8:36 p.m. Monday. Two couples were on board when it happened.

Edwin Lane and his wife, Maureen, 74, were coming back from dinner with another couple, Eileen and Robert Roon — 72 and 76, respectively — around 8:30 p.m. that day when all of a sudden, four of them were struck in the head.

New Jersey State Police said an unidentified vessel – possibly a ski boat – struck the stern of the Bayliner and became airborne – traveling over the top of the boat.
