NYPD: Suspect Steals Wallets From Unsuspected Diners, Spends Thousands On Electronic Equipment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police searching for a suspect in connection to a series of wallet thefts in Manhattan.

The NYPD says the suspect has struck at least four times since August, targeting victims while they are out dining.

The suspect reportedly took wallets from patrons at Smokehouse, Giovanni Rana Pastifico & Cucina, Charlie Bird and Beer Bar between Aug. 8 and Sept. 21, police said.

The suspect has allegedly used the victims' cards to purchase more than $10,000 in merchandise. CBS2's Steve Langford reports the suspect uses the stolen cards to purchase electronic equipment at Apple Stores, Best Buys and Macy's.

The NYPD describes the suspect as a man in his 30s, standing around 5'10" and weighing around 190 pounds.
