Homeless Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Of Upper Manhattan Shelter

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless man was stabbed to death outside of a shelter in Upper Manhattan on Monday.

It happened just outside of the Tower Hotel Family Shelter at 7th Ave and 145th Street.

As 1010 WINS' Andrew Falzone reported, the 23-year-old victim -- known as Ash -- was stabbed around 4:30 p.m. He died later at Harlem Hospital.

"He was a good kid, he was always asking for help. Looking for money. Willing to work," said Roy.

Witnesses said Ash stumbled down the block after the stabbing and finally collapsed in front of the Tower Hotel.

"He was always 'can you help me get a job, can you get me some lunch and stuff,' I looked out for him," Roy said.

It's not clear what led to the violence. No arrests have been made.
