Man Sprayed Woman In Face, Stole Bag In West Village, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were searching for a man who sprayed something in a woman's face and stole her bag in the West Village this week.

Around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, the 33-year-old woman was near Horatio and Greenwich streets when the man came up and sprayed the unknown substance in her face, police said.

The suspect then took the woman's bag from her shoulder and ran off toward Jane Street, police said.

The woman was taken to Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment, police said.

The man was described as being 230 pounds and about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
