Judge Dismisses AAA's Lawsuit Against Port Authority Over Use Of Toll Money

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A lawsuit filed by AAA against the Port Authority over how toll money should be spent was dismissed by a federal judge Friday.

AAA originally sued the agency over the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site, arguing that an increase in tolls in 2011 was not going toward transportation projects but instead going to real estate construction.

AAA then added to its lawsuit that the Pulaski Skyway makeover, which is controlled by New Jersey, was funded by nearly 2 billion in Port Authority money.

Federal judge Richard Eaton said AAA did not provide evidence that toll money was spent on the World Trade Center rebuilding, nor could they prove that the toll hikes were excessive when compared to the benefits of using that money to improve roads, WCBS 880's Mike Smeltz reported.

AAA said it is still reviewing the court's decision and had no comment.
