Mets, Rene Rivera Reach Agreement On 1-Year Deal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets have agreed to a one-year contract with backup catcher Rene Rivera.
According to WFAN baseball insider Jon Heyman, the deal is for $1.75 million.

The Mets acquired Rivera last season after he was released by the Rays. He played in 65 games, batting .222 with six home runs.
On Wednesday, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he expect that Travis d'Arnaud or Kevin Plawecki, both of whom struggled at the plate last season, will be the Mets' starting catcher in 2017.
