Search Continues For Missing 19-Year-Old Woman In Monmouth County, N.J.

NEPTUNE CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Monmouth County officials continued to search Thursday for a missing 19-year-old woman who hasn't been seen for nearly a week.

Sarah Stern was last seen Friday afternoon at her Neptune City, New Jersey home, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni. A few hours later, her car was found.

"The car that she was known to drive and operate was found abandoned that day -- a 1994 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight. It was found abandoned near a bridge in Belmar," he told WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron.

Officials conducted an extensive search of the nearby Shark River and surrounding areas, but to no avail.

"We have lots of federal, state and municipal teams working to try to find her, but we need the public's assistance," Gramiccioni said.

Stern's family organized a search party to comb coastal towns on Saturday.

In the meantime, anyone who may have seen her is asked to call Monmouth County Crimestoppers at 1-800-671-4400.
