Police Try To Identify 2 Men In Connection With Correction Officer's Murder

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is trying to identify two men and a vehicle in connection with its investigation into the death of an off-duty correction officer who was shot near her Flatlands, Brooklyn home Sunday night.

Alastasia Bryan, 25, was inside her parked car at Avenue L and 73rd Street about to drive to Rikers Island where she had just started working as a correction officer a month ago.

Police said a man got out of a nearby vehicle and fired five rounds into the driver's side of her car, killing her instantly.

Detectives believe Bryan was likely the intended target of the shooting.

Mourning family, friends and neighbors gathered Monday night, remembering her as someone who was driven and full of potential.
