Boy, 13, Struck By Freight Train In Elizabeth, N.J.

ELIZABETH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 13-year-old boy was struck and seriously injured by a freight train in Elizabeth, New Jersey Thursday evening.

Police said around 7:15 p.m., the boy was hit by the train in the area of Franklin Street.

The boy was taken to University Hospital in Newark in serious, but stable condition, police said.

The accident occurred along an elevated set of tracks.

People who live in the area told CBS2 kids often hang out on the tracks.
