Amal Clooney Gives Birth To Twins Ella, Alexander

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- And babies make four.

George and Amal Clooney have welcomed twins Ella and Alexander Clooney.

The children are the first for the couple who married in 2014.

The pair were born Tuesday morning, according to George Clooney's publicist Stan Rosenfield. He says both are "happy, healthy and doing fine.''

Jokes Rosenfield, "George is sedated and should recover in a few days.''

A few months ago, the star told 'Entertainment Tonight' he was coming to grips with fatherhood.

Kevin Fazier: "Have you fully digested that? That there's two coming?"

Clooney: "No, and I don't know how you fully digest that. But I'm excited. It'll be fun."

It's been quite the evolution for the actor.

"I don't have a biological clock ticking, and I don't have any interest in having children at all," Clooney said in an interview two decades ago.

All that seemed to change when he met Amal in 2013 and they tied the knot the following year in Venice.

On Tuesday morning, Amal's mother stepped out in London, shopping for baby gifts for her new grandchildren.
