Son Charged With Murder Of Father In Maplewood, N.J.
MAPLEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - A 53-year-old man died after an attack in his Maplewood home Wednesday morning, and the man's son has now been charged with his murder.
Wesley Reason was assaulted in his home on Broadview Avenue at around 2:30 a.m., prosecutors said.
Police say Reason suffered fatal blunt force trauma injuries in the attack. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
On Wednesday afternoon, the victim's son – Alexander Taylor Reason, 19 – was charged with murder and weapons charges, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's office.
The younger Reason was being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility late Wednesday pending a detention hearing, prosecutors said.
The investigation continued Wednesday afternoon. The exact cause of the elder Reason's death will be determined by an autopsy at the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner's office.
