NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An employee for Delta Airlines was sent to the hospital after a close call with a tug vehicle at LaGuardia Airport Sunday morning.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey says the vehicle was backing up around 10:15 a.m. when it struck the worker who was standing behind it.

Port Authority Police and EMS responded and rushed the employee to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

A Delta spokesperson tells CBS2 that "the safety and privacy of our employees remains our top priority as we work to support those involved."

The incident remains under investigation.
