NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD Aviation Unit came to the rescue when a 22-year-old on board a cargo ship needed to be airlifted to a hospital Sunday afternoon.

A medic was lowered onto the ship docked about 20 miles off Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn and then hoisted back up with the ailing man onto an NYPD helicopter.

The man was taken to Staten Island University Medical Center for chest and stomach pains and a severe headache.

There is no word on his condition.
