Driver Arrested After Jogger Struck And Killed By Car In Far Rockaway, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A driver has been arrested after police said she struck and killed a jogger with her car Thursday night in Queens.

It happened just before midnight at the intersection of Seagirt Boulevard and Beach 29th Street in Far Rockaway.

Police said the 36-year-old man was jogging when he was hit by a Toyota Camry as he entered the crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Camry, 31-year-old Furtema Derrick, remained at the scene. Police said she was later arrested on an aggravated unlicensed operator charge.

The man's identity has not yet been released.
