NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — There was a scare in the Bronx Monday morning when an MTA bus with passengers inside caught fire.

The bus stopped at East 156th Street and the Grand Concourse just before 7 a.m. Witnesses captured video of flames shooting out of the back of the bus as smoke poured out of the windows.

CBS2 was told the driver safely got everyone out of the bus.

The MTA says the fire started in the engine.
