Ticket Sold In Hackensack, N.J. ShopRite Wins $315 Million Powerball Jackpot

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- There is a buzz at a local grocery store, and why not? It just sold a winning Powerball ticket worth $315 million.

Someone who roamed the aisles at a ShopRite in Hackensack walked out with more than a bag of groceries. He or she is the country's newest multi-millionaire, CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reported Sunday night.

"I think it's fantastic. We needed something like this in the neighborhood," shopper Lorraine Cole said.

"I'd be happy with a million dollars, let alone that many," added Brenda Garner of Hackensack.

Lottery officials said only one ticket matched all the numbers drawn Saturday night. The winning numbers are: 3, 6, 9, 17, 56 and Powerball 25. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

"Like wow. It's something that you don't really hear that much," Hackensack resident Francis Malia said.

The owner of the ShopRite said none of the 22 stores it owns has ever sold a multi-million dollar lottery ticket.

"No one has come forward and we're not sure who that person is. We're eager to meet them and congratulate them and share what's going to be a real life-changing event," ShopRite spokesperson Maria Tevis said.

Shoppers and employees have been hoping the winning ticket holder would come forward at the grocery store on Sunday and maybe rub off some of that good luck.

"They want to know who it is. I hope he shows up. I'll play again and see if I can win," ShopRite employee Raphael Couceiro said.

"I think it's simply fantastic, and I hope the person that receives it really needs it. That's the main thing. God bless 'em," Cole said.

There were five tickets sold that matched all the numbers except the Powerball, officials said. At least one of those tickets was sold in New York. That jackpot is worth $1 million.

Not bad!
