Andy Murray Beats John Isner To Reach US Open Semifinals

The No. 4-seeded Murray neutralized No. 28 Isner’s big serve and used a variety of lobs, drop shots and pinpoint passing shots to win 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2) at the U.S. Open on Friday, reaching his fourth major semifinal this season.

The 28th-seeded Isner beat France’s Gilles Simon 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) in three hours, 39 minutes Thursday in a match delayed two days by rain. Isner will face fourth-ranked Andy Murray.
