34th Street Partnership
The 34th Street Parternship wants a ban on food carts along 34th, including on Sundays, when vending rules now don’t apply.
Inter-city buses such as Bolt Bus have been a hit with passengers. But the growing popularity means crowded sidewalks and clogged traffic as buses pick up and drop off.
This year, the 34th Street Partnership counted 21,966 shopping bags. The group counted 17,290 bags last year, marking a 27 percent increase this year.
Close to 22,000 shopping bags were counted coming out of stores on 34th Street, Sixth Ave, Seventh Ave, and Broadway on Saturday, according to counters from the 34th Street Partnership.
They skipped Thanksgiving dinner, they braved the elements and they waited in line for hours all for a piece of the Black Friday action.
Business owners are complaining that a stream of buses are crowding Midtown streets scaring away customers and creating a dangerous scenario for pedestrians.
