The fire broke out just before 9 a.m. Friday on the third floor of a building on Gregory Avenue. When firefighters arrived, residents were screaming for help from the windows and fire escapes, officials said.
The city of Paterson got $135,000; Passaic got $57,000; and $18,000 went to Clifton.
