Bergen County Sheriff: Phone Scam Traced To Georgia Prison

A correction officer and an inmate in Georgia targeted Bergen County residents in a phone scam, convincing them they needed to pay fines for missing jury duty or having an outstanding arrest warrant, police said.

Officials: Fraudsters Target Bergen County Residents With Jury Duty Phone Scam

Fraudsters are apparently targeting Bergen County residents with a jury duty phone scam. Calls have been made on pre-paid cell phones with ‘201’ area codes, the Bergen County Sheriff’s office said.
