The hunt was on Saturday morning for two suspects in connection with a shooting in the Bronx.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the victim was pinned when a large refrigeration unit that was being lifted came crashing down outside a building on Grand Concourse at 173rd Street, almost in front of Bronx Lebanon Hospital.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said 27-year-old Officer Ivan Marcano shot and killed one suspect “in a remarkable display of marksmanship” following an apparently wild series of events.
The girl was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, investigators said.
Authorities are investigating the deaths of a 2-month-old and a 23-month-old who were both found unresponsive Saturday morning in unrelated incidents.
Police are still looking for a man in his 20′s who they said fired at least 8 bullets, one of which struck the girl.
