Investigators in Putnam County released the results of their probe Thursday into the horrific blaze that left four people dead and determined a smoldering cigarette ash ignited the fire.
Hundreds of mourners were on hand on Saturday morning to lay four family members killed earlier this week in a vicious fire in Putnam County to rest. The funeral started at 9 a.m. at St. James the Apostle church in Carmel.
The Putnam County coroner said based on the preliminary autopsy results, it “probably” means Larchmont Police Captain Thomas Sullivan, his wife Donna and their two daughters, 17-year-old Meghan and 15-year-old Mairead, died before they were burned.
