The Manhattan district attorney’s office said Epp abruptly attacked a Spanish tourist sitting near him on bench at City Hall Park in July 2012.
Douglas Epp pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder in the July 2012 attack. He is expected to receive a 14-year prison sentence.
Investigators said the man accused of beating a tourist with a hammer in City Hall Park last month has admitted to the attack. In court documents released during a hearing Tuesday, the man first identified as John Yoos said he “snapped” before launching the attack. The suspect pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
