Victims’ Families Demand Stiffer Sentences For Hit-And-Run Killers In New York

The families, accompanied by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota and state senators, demanded that the maximum sentence be increased from seven to 15 years for hit-and-run drivers.

Police: Erika Hughes, 24, Killed In Suffolk County Hit And Run

Officers say the victim was walking on Mastic Road in Mastic Beach when she was struck Thursday night. The impact threw her body against a curb. The driver fled the scene without so much as slowing down.
