Bob Simon, a longtime correspondent for CBS’ “60 Minutes” and a CBS News veteran of more than 45 years, was killed Wednesday night in a crash on the West Side Highway.
According to Nassau County police, two men were walking across Clinton Street at Dartmouth Street in Hempstead at around 1:15 a.m. when they were struck by an orange 2013 Dodge Challenger travelling northbound.

The driver of the Acura has only been identified as a 60-year-old man. No charges have been filed and police said no criminality is suspected, though the investigation is ongoing.
