A season of incredible highs and lows finally came to a halt on Wednesday night when the Blackbirds started slowly, briefly took the lead and then wilted at the end to fall to James Madison 68-55 in the First Four at the University of Dayton Arena.
“We’re going to be comfortable in this environment and atmosphere and playing on national TV,” said LIU’s Jason Brickman. “It’s definitely an advantage.”
Iona College in New Rochelle will be taking on Big Ten champions Ohio State on Friday, while a first-year coach will lead Long Island University Brooklyn against James Madison to days earlier in the First Four.
Almost nothing went wrong for Iona in the first 16 minutes of its first-round game against BYU. After that, almost nothing went right.
Lamont Jones has played against BYU twice before. But he only remembers one player — one no longer even with the Cougars.
