By midday, the flight-tracking website FlightAware reported nearly 2,000 delayed flights and 1,500 canceled flights nationwide, including in Newark, New York and Philadelphia.
Airline passengers are facing travel troubles. The Federal Aviation Administration has furloughed 47,000 workers because of federal budget cuts.
