Democrats and Republicans in Washington have come together in the House to pass legislation aimed at improving the safety of prescription drugs.
The New Jersey U.S. Senate special election primaries were called Tuesday night for Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Steve Lonegan.
The Monmouth University survey released Tuesday shows Booker with the support of 49 percent of Democrats likely to vote in the Aug. 13 primary. His closest competitor, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, got 12 percent.
The decision was announced late Friday night by Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., whose district includes some of the areas hardest-hit by the storm. Pallone says the process could get under way as early as Monday.
