Gregory Atkins made a brief appearance in Manhattan state Supreme Court where he was informed a grand jury voted to indict him on charges of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Darryl Lynch, 55, has been charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and an act in manner to injure a child less than 17.
Brett Picou, 30, an art teacher at P.S. 52, was charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11.
Police say 27-year-old substitute teacher Chukwuma Duru is accused of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child at the Bronx Career and College Prep High School on Feb. 9.
The alleged incidents took place during the 2010-2011 school year. The children in question are now ages 8 and 9.
Gregory Atkins, 56, was arrested Friday and charged with sexual abuse, attempted criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Police made two arrests this week: teacher’s aide Gregory Atkins in Manhattan and another teacher’s aide, Taleek Brooks, in Brooklyn.
“It’s appalling and a shock, because you wouldn’t think of it in a school like this,” parent David Callaway said.
