A Jersey City police officer who authorities said was gunned down on Sunday will be posthumously promoted to detective, Mayor Steven Fulop said Wednesday.
Two emergency services police officers were on patrol when they spotted a 25-year-old man carrying a six-foot long, wooden fence post with a sharpened end, authorities said.
Crews had to use huge cranes, forklifts and a conveyor belt to maneuver scraps in order to extinguish the flames.
In Jersey City, the new mayor – Steve Fulop – can usually be found hard at work behind his desk well before 8 a.m.
“He’s going to bring Jersey City to the next level,” Mayor Steve Fulop said. “We’ve been a little bit behind the times and I think Jim coming into Jersey City is going to change the dynamics and move the city forward.”
