In all likelihood, Florida State freshman quarterback Jameis Winston will walk away with the prestigious award. The 19-year-old has thrown for 38 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, completing 68 percent of his passing attempts.
Winston: “I knew I did nothing wrong. I knew I could respect the process and I’d eventually be vindicated. It was more about me being silent for my family because I didn’t want to put my family in those situations.”
The Heisman Trophy will be presented Saturday evening in New York City. Winston’s name should be at the top of the list as college football’s most impressive player from the start of the season through the championship games. Everything else after that is purely a guess.
Winston will have plenty of company at the Heisman Trophy ceremony – though he’s not expected to have much competition.
