Christie said he doesn’t want to micromanage the university and won’t say whether incoming athletic director Julie Hermann should start at the school as scheduled on June 17.
The nightmare at Rutgers University continues. Incoming athletic director Julie Hermann is smack-dab in the middle of some more controversy, according to the New York Times.
Hermann officially takes over the athletic department on June 17, and on Monday she said she plans to be in the position on that date.
Former Gov. Richard Codey is calling for Rutgers president Robert Barchi’s dismissal, calling the latest allegations to rock the athletic department “an embarrassment to the students and alumni of a great university.”
Julie Hermann was tapped for AD after a scandal surrounding the Rutgers men’s basketball head coach led to several firings.
The Hermann problem has popped up when many thought the worst was over, and that the Rutgers athletic department could start focusing on its move to the Big Ten in 2014.
Hermann will replace Tim Pernetti, whose resignation from the university came last month amid the Mike Rice coaching abuse scandal.
