NJ Lawmakers Want Loophole Closed In Cases Involving Failure To Disclose HIV Infection

A retired Plainfield police captain was on trial in July for having sex with women and not telling them he’s HIV positive, but was acquitted after prosecutors were barred from obtaining medical records.

Lawmaker Calls For Stiffer Penalties For Violating Road Closure Signage In New Jersey

State Senator Kip Bateman from Somerville said when drivers don’t follow the road closure signs, they put themselves and first responders at risk, while also diverting attention from the main incident. The bill sponsored by Bateman would increase the fine from $100 to $250 and may require drivers to pay for the cost of their rescue.
