The commission unanimously approved a resolution Monday night that stated LG Electronics’ proposed 143-foot-high headquarters in Englewood Cliffs poses a threat to the scenic beauty to the area north of the George Washington Bridge.
When Michele Byers, head of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, asked four governors to implore LG Electronics not to build a tower that would soar above the tree line in Englewood Cliffs and mar the vista, they didn’t even blink.
LG Electronics plans to build a 143 foot tall office building in Englewood Cliffs and at that height, the building would rise above the tree line.
Numerous entities are suing LG to prevent the construction of buildings like the ones in Edgewater and Ft. Lee, which have changed the iconic view of the Palisades forever.
The competition tests three skills: speed, accuracy and dexterity.
