Cold air was moving into the Tri-State Area Monday night, and it could be setting the stage for the first major snowstorm of the season later in the week.
“That’s the big gear that ushered in all the cold air. This was supposed to be more rain-snow mix but it’s cold enough so it’s more snow,” said CBS 2 meteorologist John Elliott.
After a Christmas weekend blizzard dumped 20 inches of snow on New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg was criticized for the slow cleanup. This time his Department of Sanitation says it has salt spreaders ready.
Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather Advisories were in effect for much of the Tri-State Area as wet, wintry weather heads our way.
It feels an awful lot like winter, but winter is still 15 days away.
