Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has directed that U.S. and state flags be flown at half-staff to remember the nearly 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Democrat made the announcement Friday following a meeting of the State Bond Commission. Malloy previously said he would unveil his decision after the legislative session adjourns in May.
A woman was killed, and five other people were injured, in a shooting early Saturday at a strip club in New Haven, Conn.
Former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords met at a private home with families of the 20 children and six school officials killed at Sandy Hook last month.
Events and memorials were held around the Tri-State area Tuesday to mark the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11th terror attacks.
