Big changes are coming to an old familiar food. Kraft is changing the recipe of its popular macaroni and cheese.
Kraft Foods announced Tuesday that it was recalling 242,000 cases of its famous macaroni and cheese because there might be small pieces of metal in with the easy-to-cook food.
The S’MAC gourmet macaroni and cheese restaurant in the East Village has been ordered closed by city health inspectors, who reported finding evidence of mice and other problems.
Long a staple of the kids menu, mac and cheese in NYC has grown up, thanks to elegant ingredients like gruyere, duck, and lobster. But this comfort food also comes with hot dogs and hamburger, and even plain, for any purists in the audience.
In what seems like a weekly occurrence, another new food truck recently hit the NYC streets. This one is called the Mac Truck, and serves one of the ultimate comfort foods: macaroni & cheese.
