Nearly one year ago, the remains of Mattia Filippazzo were stolen from her mausoleum at St. Charles Roman Catholic Cemetery in Farmingdale.
It’s been a week since the body of Mattia Filippazzo was stolen from a mausoleum and her family came to the East Farmingdale cemetery Tuesday to plead for more help in finding her remains.
“The taking of her body has shattered our peace, and the inability to know that our mother is at rest will haunt us until we can find her,” Stefano Filippazzo said in a statement on behalf of his family.
A distraught family demanded answers Wednesday after thieves vandalized a Long Island cemetery. Suffolk County Police say a group of thieves broke into a mausoleum, stealing the remains of a woman who died 12 years ago.
