Among those who moved up in rank were Detective Kevin Herlihy and Officer Kevin Brennan. Herlihy was hurt in a gun fight with a suspect at a Harlem subway station last week; Brennan was shot in the head at point-blank range in Brooklyn last month.
Herlihy said he “feels lucky” as he was greeted by two long rows of applauding police officers while being wheeled out Wednesday from New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center.
A police officer was shot in Upper Manhattan on Tuesday following a confrontation with a suspect at a subway station. The suspect was shot dead.
