The lawsuit was filed Monday in Manhattan federal court. It seeks unspecified damages for the September 2012 killing of 28-year-old Mohamed Bah, shot in his Morningside Heights home.
Supporters of a mentally ill man who was shot dead by police in his Harlem apartment marched on police headquarters on Sunday.
The family said they want to know why officers entered the apartment even though Mohamed Bah was inside alone. They also said officers should have allowed Mohamed’s mother to talk to her son through the door.
Hawa Bah, the mother of the man who was killed, is now demanding answers from police.
