OMG, New York City Council OKs Text Donations For Elections

The City Council voted Tuesday to allow residents to donate via text message. Under the bill, which must be signed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a voter could use their phones to give up to $99 to a candidate in an election cycle.

Liu Denied Public Matching Funds For Campaign Due To ‘Substantial Evidence’ Of Wrongdoing

“The evidence suggests that the potential violations are serious and pervasive across campaign’s fundraising,” the board said in a statement read at the hearing. Liu’s lawyer said an appeal is planned.
