The Policeman’s Benevolent Association, which represents most Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police officers announced the endorsement Tuesday. The union had backed Christie’s rival, incumbent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, four years ago.
In order to expedite the process, there will be no weekend service from Newark to 33rd Street via Hoboken so crews can make repairs with the third rail turned off.
The agency said the 24-hour service will be in place for the holidays next week, “to help revelers and holiday travelers reach their destinations safely.”
