Politicians Will Not Speak At 9/11 Anniversary After Families Claim Museum Progress Stalled By Politics
Politicians will be excluded from speaking at this year’s Sept. 11 anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero, following a year in which families have expressed concern that political struggles are hindering progress on a 9/11 museum at the World Trade Center site.
Plans to cover the concrete base of the new World Trade Center tower with 2,000 panel of clear prismatic glass have been scrapped because of technical and safety concerns.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s 2011 preliminary budget calls for 200 job cuts and investing $3.9 billion on capital projects including the World Trade Center.
