Happy National Cheeseburger Day! There are plenty of places to grab a cheeseburger in New York City. But where can you find the best burgers in NYC? We’ll tell you.
“It’s a very sad and difficult decision,” said owner Christopher Villano. “We are proud to have served as a fun gathering place for Yankee fans and been host to important sports broadcasts and announcements over the years.”
A piece of classic New York will close on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Prime Burger restaurant — across from St. Patrick’s Cathedral on E. 51st Street — has been around since 1964.
“It’s just an issue that the building was sold and the new owners want to use the first floor for their own purposes,” co-owner John DiMiceli told CBSNewYork.com. “I do not know specifically if they want to rent it or use it for their own purposes. But they do not want the Prime Burger there.”
This hole-in-the-wall isn’t much by way of decor (it has only 10 seats), but it has one of the best delivery burgers in the city.
