Former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey said this weekend that his work counseling prisoners has brought him to “a more Godly place.”
A group of prisoners at Rikers Island were released Wednesday so they could deliver 700 Thanksgiving meals to the needy in Manhattan.
The bus was bound for Ulster Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison. The prisoners were being transported there after being held in New York City for court appearances.
Four firefighters suffered minor injuries and 200 inmates had to be relocated after a fire broke out in an air conditioning room on Rikers Island.
