Parents of a young girl were sent into a panic after a taxi driver picked up the wrong child from a Bronx public school Tuesday afternoon.
PS 87 has banned Rainbow Loom, the colorful make-them-yourself rubber band bracelets, because the fad is distracting and has led to fights on the playground, the principal said.
Brett Picou, 30, an art teacher at P.S. 52, was charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11.
Police say 27-year-old substitute teacher Chukwuma Duru is accused of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child at the Bronx Career and College Prep High School on Feb. 9.
Police made two arrests this week: teacher’s aide Gregory Atkins in Manhattan and another teacher’s aide, Taleek Brooks, in Brooklyn.
“It’s appalling and a shock, because you wouldn’t think of it in a school like this,” parent David Callaway said.
